.Position SummaryWe are seeking a self-motivated undergraduate or
graduate student for a co-op position in the Leads Discovery &
Optimization organization in Cambridge, MA. This position will
offer the co-op student an exciting opportunity to work on high
resolution mass spectrometry. The incumbent will participate in the
establishment of native mass spectrometry (nMS) workflow and assist
the development and optimization of protocols for preparing cell
and protein samples for nMS analysis. The student will have the
rare opportunity to learn one of the most advanced mass
spectrometry platforms and gain knowledge and skills in the
application of nMS in drug discovery research.Key
Responsibilities
- Work closely with mass spectrometry scientists to optimize the
sample preparation protocol for nMS.
- Perform sample preparation for nMS experiments.
- Plan and perform MS analysis using advanced mass spec
techniques under the supervision of the mentor.
- Work with the mentor to build and develop nMS workflow for
protein and cell samples.
- Analyze and report data to notebook and corporate
database.
- Present results to function and project teams.Qualifications &
Experience
- An undergraduate senior or a graduate student in analytical
chemistry, biochemistry, biophysical chemistry, or related
fields.
- Basic laboratory techniques such as pH measurement, pipetting,
solvent handling, and lab safety are required.
- Practical understanding of the principles of liquid
chromatography and mass spectrometry is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with running mass spectrometry and/or
liquid chromatography is preferred.
- Ability to independently generate precise and reliable data and
analyze data.
- Proficiency in using general computer software and willing to
learn vendor-specific instrument control and data analysis
tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. If you come
